Thank You, San Diego: Measure A Defeated

Thank you, San Diego.

Voters have rejected Measure A.

This result sends a clear message: San Diegans want real solutions to the housing affordability crisis — not flawed proposals like Measure A.

Throughout this campaign, voters read the fine print.

They saw that Measure A was a $10,000 tax on homes.

They saw that the money was not guaranteed for housing.

They saw that the burden of proof would fall on homeowners.

They saw that the rules and paperwork would come later.

And they saw that other cities tried vacancy taxes and ran into bureaucracy, incorrect tax bills, privacy problems, lawsuits, and no real rent relief.

San Diego has a real housing crisis. That has never been in dispute.

But Measure A was not the answer.

The voters have now said clearly that City Hall should pursue real housing solutions — more homes, more accountability, faster approvals, and policies that actually make housing more affordable — not another tax bureaucracy.

We are grateful to every voter who took the time to learn about Measure A, share information with friends and neighbors, and cast a ballot.

Thank you for standing up for accountability.

Thank you for rejecting a flawed tax.

And thank you for voting No on Measure A.
