Upcoming Series: The Fine Print in Measure A

Starting next week, we'll be walking voters through the fine print and details of Measure A to show you what it really does, what it doesn't do, and just how bad this would be for San Diego.

There's been a lot of talk from the Yes on A crowd that the City has a specific list of homes that will pay the Measure A tax, and these home, and only these homes, will pay the tax. But just like other lies from Yes on A, this one just isn't true. So starting next week, we'll be walking you some of the fine print in Measure A that shows the truth:

Measure A is an unaccountable housing tax put on the ballot by politicians at City Hall to bail out their total failure to manage the budget. It has nothing do with making housing more affordable. You know that because they put all the money into the City General Fund instead of into a special fund for housing programs.

So while it won't make housing more affordable, it will set up a whole new bureaucracy to track how many nights you stay in your own home. The burden of proof is on you to tell the City how many days you occupy your own home, and their new "Occupancy Bureaucracy" will aggressively invade your privacy because they make more money if they can hit more people with the housing tax.
